Hello Everyone!
I've decided to use my first blog post to discuss my line of work. I am a sales consultant for a bridal boutique in St. Louis, MO. Now for many women, teenagers or tweens (and every age in between) they would say exactly this, 'This must be a fun job' and the ever popular, 'You must love working here'. I hear one of these two quotes on a daily basis and I always answer with a half of the truth. Which is always, 'Oh yeah, it's so much fun working here,' and 'Everyday it's something new, new people and new dresses.' Both of those statements are about.....50% true.
Rant 1.
Brides need to be SERIOUS! If you're not prepared to buy a wedding gown why are you shopping? I see no point for someone to make an effort to set up an appointment, bring in people who have carved out time out of their schedules to help you find the gown of your dreams and then when you find it, you can't buy because you weren't expecting to. You don't go to Target with no money. You do not go to a restaurant with no money. I'm just baffled by the number of people who actually go to places (not only bridal salons) waste the workers or consultants time because either a) they have no money or b) they're just playing.
Rant 2.
Not engaged? Don't come in. Do not come play in our gowns when someone else who actually needs a dress could have your appointment time. Wait your turn like everyone else who had to wait for their rings.
Rant 3. (Final One)
Stop it with Pinterest. The gowns that have those amazing low or detail backs and the gowns that have those amazing lace sleeves are well over $10, 000. So unless you have parents who are just straight up ballers or you have a titanium credit card...STOP! You'll drive yourself insane and pass up a dress that you could truly love because you're waiting for the Pinterest dress to drop down thousands of dollars for you to afford. (Which it doesn't happen.) Be realistic with yourself and your budget and stay away from Pinterest!
